our projects

Nyumbani-USA is dedicated to charitable and humanitarian causes, including raising funds for the aid, assistance, care and support for persons afflicted with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Kenya.  We provide critical support to HIV-positive orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), their caregivers and households.

Nyumbani children's home

Founded in 1992, by Fr. Angelo D'Agostino, SJ. MD, the Nyumbani Children’s Home in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya, provides life-saving care and a loving home to more than 100 HIV-positive children in Kenya. Ages newborn to 23, the children live at the Children’s Home until they are healthy and self-reliant.

Journey, the ed colina foundation

Journey, The Ed Colina Foundation partners with the poor and marginalized in Kenya to build stronger communities and healthier lives.  Since September 2023, Nyumbani-USA has supported the Foundation's work with the Kakuma Mission Hospital HIV Comprehensive Care Program in Turkana, Kenya.

Nyumbani Alumni Sustainability Project

In December 2023, Nyumbani-USA established the Nyumbani Alumni Sustainability Project, which is designed to provide access to resources and life skills for the approximately 100 alumni of the Nyumbani Children's Home.  The mission of this project is to partner with the Nyumbani alums themselves in creating a better future through intentional planning.  Nyumbani-USA has partnered with a variety of subject matter experts on the ground in Kenya to ensure project success.

FR. angelo d'agostino scholarship fund

In 2018, Nyumbani-USA established the Fr. Angelo D'Agostino Scholarship Fund.  With initial funds provided by several generous donors, Nyumbani-USA seeks to grow the scholarship fund so that we can assist graduates of the Nyumbani Children's Home to reach their full potential by giving them access to quality post-secondary education opportunities.

Nyumbani-USA seeks to start granting scholarships in 2024.
