Last Sunday May 15th, the amazing life and work of Father Angelo D’Agostino was celebrated at Primi Piatti, in Washington D.C. The Italian restaurant was the perfect place for friends and family to celebrate and share stories of Nyumbani’s beloved founder, as it was a favorite eatery of Father D’Ag’s.
The event was organized by Dr. Joe Novello, a practicing psychiatrist and longtime colleague of Father D’Ag. In addition, Joe D’Agostino, brother to Father D’Ag, provided great memories of growing up with his brother.
Guests enjoyed an amazing meal while swapping “Dag stories” and celebrating an amazing man. After dinner, Savino Recine, owner of Primi Piatti and accomplished magician, was able to provide entertainment in the form of a magic show. Father D’Ag was known to refer to Savino as a “Magic Chef” both in and out of the kitchen. His performance on Sunday embodied just that.
Mark Russell, comedian and political satirist was also in attendance at Primi Pratti. He brought much laughter and enjoyment to the room with his wit and persona. Overall, it was an amazing night full of celebration and love for Father Angelo D’Agostino, for whom the children of Nyumbani are forever thankful.
Thank you to Joe Novello for organizing an amazing event, to Joe D’Agostino for sharing special memories of his brother, to Savino Recine for hosting the event and entertaining guests with his magic and to Mark Russell for his always welcome satire and comedy.
What an great event!
