On June 28th, 2017 Sister Mary received an award from the Kenyan Government’s Ministry of Health in appreciation for her timeless service and dedication to the Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Program in Kenya. The ART Program, part of the Ministry of Health’s National AIDS and STI Control Programme (NASCOP), works to provide care and treatment to those affected by HIV.
The overall responsibilities of the program are:
- Policy and guidelines formulation, setting standards to HIV care and treatment
- Coordination and management
- Providing monitoring and evaluation support to programs in implementation throughout the country
The growth and success of Nyumbani programs – Children’s Home, Leo Toto Community Outreach Program and Village – reflects Sr. Mary’s tremendous dedication to the health and care of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Kenya.
Congratulations Sr. Mary on this recognition of your work!
