Sunday November 6th, Javier Morales will run the NYC Marathon for Nyumbani. He has been raising money for Nyumbani for months through Classy, which allows individual friends of Nyumbani to create their own fundraising campaigns. We recently spoke to Javier because we wanted to know why he chose to fundraise for Nyumbani and what our organization means to him.
Why do I care about Nyumbani?
Well, my family has been involved with Nyumbani for several years now and my mother, as well as two of my siblings, have already volunteered there. They all returned very impressed by the labor and work of the organization. Through them I’ve been able to see first hand the impact of Nyumbani in the lives of the orphan children. Thanks to Nyumbani these children have a shelter, food, medical care, education, and a place to call home.
In other words, Nyumbani isn’t just an opportunity for me to give back and help those less fortunate, it’s much more than that. Nyumbani is an incredible success story, capable of achieving its goals through hard work and dedication, no matter how difficult they may seem. In short, Nyumbani represents the strength of will power, which is why I am setting myself the goal of finishing the NY Marathon under 4 hours in spirit of Nyumbani and all they represent.
Thank you to Javier for all his fundraising efforts and we wish you the best of luck in your race!
