On Saturday October 14th, the Christ Church Parish in Kensington, MD hosted a fundraiser for Nyumbani; specifically focused on the need for water and medical supplies. The event, organized in part by Christ Church Parish member and Nyumbani board member Tina Cleland, featured Kenyan cuisine, tribal dancing, and a large boutique of crafts for sale. The crafts, many handmade by Nyumbani Village’s susus (grandmothers), were organized by Nyumbani supporter Lloydie Zaiser and her organization Tuko Pamoja. All proceeds from ticket sales and craft sales will go back to Nyumbani. Members of neighboring Tumaini Baptist Church in Lanham, MD, assisted in the preparation of dinner and teaching of traditional dancing.
It was a great evening of good food and entertainment, filled with laughter and Nyumbani love.
Thank you to Tina, Christ Church Parish, Lloydie Zaiser, Tumaini Church and all attendees for your support!
