We’re thrilled to report that several Nyumbani students have been accepted to study for a degree in computing sciences, thanks in part to their prior lessons in the computer lab at Nyumbani Children’s Home In 2005. The Nyumbani Computer Lab was built at the Children’s Home in Nairobi and was upgraded in 2006 with new computers running the latest versions of Open Source software, and a full suite of educational applications. Since then, Nyumbani has received several upgrades encouraging curiosity and skill-building for these students.
Today, there are now Nyumbani students eager to begin a career in computer science. This year, the government even started to sponsor school computer labs for ICT skills, as the need for computer savvy workers continues to grown in Kenya.
Having a computer is an essential tool for the high school graduates who have been accepted into a computing program – and we believe there is a surplus of laptops in the hands of Nyumbani supporters that could be donated to this cause. Your donation of a laptop will immediately boost the preparedness of these graduates in their transition to a fulfilling career.
Upon receiving a laptop or tablet, you will receive the following statements:
- Receipt of a disk drive wipe (even if the drive has been already wiped, we will run an independent secure erase). Tablets will be reset to factory default settings.
- An itemized description of the donation on Nyumbani letterhead, that is suitable for tax deductions for both individuals and corporations.
Nyumbani is a project of the Children of God Relief Fund, Inc. (COGRF), a 501(c)(3) organization registered in the state of New York, federal ID 13.3615655. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our National Capital Area CFC number is 47471.
