Last week, Kenya’s newspaper The Star published a story on a generous donation to Nyumbani Village by Mumbuni Boys High School. The Boys High School, located in neighboring Machakos County fundraise and collected Sh50,000 (approx. $500) worth of donations for the children and grandparents of Nyumbani Village. Donations included clothes, shoes and food. Representatives from the school including students, teachers and staff traveled to the village to greet the residents of Nyumbani and deliver their generous gifts in person.
Munbuni Boys School guidance and counselling teacher, Juliana Wambui said,
“We cannot ignore the fact that there are needy people, especially orphaned children and the elderly, out there who need help to survive and cope with life. It is for that reason that we decided to contribute something small to donate to these unfortunate children who lost their parents as a result of the HIV/Aids pandemic.”
